Morning walk

I've been trying to go for a walk in the mornings to get some exercise and let the boys get some time outside before it gets too hot. Since the boys wake up by 6, that usually isn't a problem. Today, we stopped by the neighborhood park.
The trees around the park are great, especially with the sun coming through the branches.

The belly...
It's getting bigger! My last pair of non maternity shorts no longer fit. Sigh... I hate maternity shorts, but love shorts in general. Small price to pay.

On an unrelated note. My yahoo account got hacked today. It's such a pain! I'm going to stop using it and just use gmail from now on. Sorry if I sent you a infected email. Please don't open!!

Resurrected

My phone has nine lives. It's fine again.

The adoption with Laya didn't go through. There was another couple who had already filled out an application, and they said we could still do ours but... they wanted something from our mortgage company showing we owned our house and we would need to get Piper up to date on our shots. I do have an appt for her next week, but I think it'll be too late by then. This humane shelter is just CRAZY! Their application process is very off-putting. We're still looking at some other dogs through another rescue service.

I got my camera battery charger today!! Yay! I'll have some pics of the boys and their latest exploits up here shortly.

Hmm

I think it's a bad sign when you can't get your phone to turn on. Plug it into the wall, and no lights come on, not a thing, nada.

Hmm. May be time to get a new phone.

Looking to expand the family

Aaron and I have wanted another dog for quite a while now. However, when we lived in Chicago, we didn't think we had the room for two dogs. Now we do! We've started looking around. We went to the humane shelter last weekend and I've been trolling the rescue dogs. This is our current favorite so far:
She has a really sweet disposition. She's a hound/lab mix. We'll see if it works out. I honestly don't know if we'll qualify. Their application for adoption is ridiculous. We had to write down the name and number of someone (not a relative) who could take care of the dog if we could not. Thankfully, one of the nurses knows someone really close to us that babysits and pet sits. I feel like we could adopt a kid with less trouble, although not less money I'm sure. I'll keep you posted.

We've been running around per usual. Byron started his second session of swim classes this week. He's the youngest in this one, which I kind of like. He gets pushed to do more a little that way. He's so comfortable in the water. He's floating on his back, with assistance, but very relaxed and flat in the water, dunking himself constantly and jumping in with abandon. He did get pushed in today. He wasn't very happy about that but rallied and did one more jump to end the day. I didn't want him to end on a bad note.

We also checked out where Byron will be attending preschool. It's exciting and scary (for me) at the same time. He starts just after Labor Day.

It's been hot hot hot here. We pretty much stay inside during the afternoon. The mosquitoes are really out in the evening too. That pretty much limits our outdoor time to the pool and beach right now. That's ok with me though. :)

One month

It's hard to believe, but we've already been in Savannah for over a month. Everything is going great. It is getting hot. But, we just spend the middle part of the day in the water or indoors.

We're all getting our bearings. Aaron just completed his first week solo at the practice. His partner took off for a 2 week vacation in Italy. He couldn't wait for Aaron to get here. Everything went well, but we're all really excited for a relaxing weekend.

I had my first OB appt today (in Savannah). I did have one in Chicago just before we left. It went great. It's so nice going to the hospital, having free parking, and not having to wait too long. We heard the baby's heartbeat, a strong 158. I had a ton of blood drawn too. I'm pretty sure everyone already knew we're expecting number 3 in January.

The boys are doing well. Well, just don't give them tiramisu within an hour of bedtime again. I'll have to remember that one. It makes for a rough bedtime.

We went swimming after naps at the Y today. Byron's floating on his back, with a lifevest, and dunking his head under water now. Waylon kept trying to swim on his own, with the life vest again. He would say nah and then point to himself every time I tried to help him. He actually is getting the hang of it though. I still have to spot him, he rolls over and dunks himself periodically.

Byron acting grumpy at the start of swim lessons...
Waylon playing in the splash park...Looking forward to some beach time this weekend. We didn't make it out there this week. Byron's had swim lessons, and I feel like we've been spending lots of time just trying to get little things taken care of with getting settled.

PS- Can't find the spare battery or charger for the camera yet. I'll get some new pics up soon. The last couple have been from my mom's visit.

Summer visitors

Had a great time this past week. Nana Renee and Poppa Ken showed up last Tuesday and just left today. Pete and Caroline also came for the weekend (and to bring some more furniture, Thanks guys!!!).

We did a ton! There was lots of sight seeing, playing, and house/yard projects that were completed.

Most notably:

1. Got patio furniture! We have ate every dinner and breakfast outside since.2. Boys all built a stand for our washer and dryer3. Went to Lady and Son's (Paula Deans place). Very good. Was thinking it wasn't worth all the hype and surprisingly affordable.

4. Took trolley tour of downtown. Neighbor owns tour company. Already meeting great people.
5. Beach of course

Little fish

Started swim lessons for Byron today. That boy is fearless in the water. We went to a pool party hosted by Aaron's boss and his wife this weekend. Byron was all over the water. He has some water wings and was good to go. He was going down an 8 ft slide into the water by himself (into dad's arms) and jumping off the diving board. He put the 6 year old there to shame. :)

Today the lesson went well. It's at our Y. I love that place! There were 5 boys in his class. The instructors had the boys sit on a step while they motored around with 2 of the boys at a time. One boy just took off from the steps, trying to swim and sank. The lifeguard was right there, so no harm done. Byron thought it looked like fun and tried the same thing.

It's been too hot to really play outside lately unless you're in the water. We've actually had some big thunderstorms late in the day the last two days. Our yard is really liking it. It's looking less and less like a big yellow patch and more greenish now, though pretty spotty.

Here the boys were watching the rain out their window..

Low tide

Yep, those are giant tide pools. The boys loved them. Saw fish and one jellyfish (we stayed way away). They are about 1 1/2' deep at the most.

July 4th weekend

We had a great time this weekend. Aaron was on call, which he will be much more often now, but "only" had to go in twice. Both times happened to correspond with the boys nap times, so it didn't slow us down too much.

Saturday:

Beach in the am. Windy, but still fun. Yard and grilling out in the pm. We heard horror stories about the beach traffic on holiday weekends, so we only went this morning and took off pretty early.

Sunday:

Yard in the am. Aaron got a rototiller. I have rarely seen him so happy.Boys got bubbles. Waylon would run around screaming BUBBY.
Neighbors in the pm. We have met so many of our neighbors! They are so nice. Our fence actually has a gate in it through to our back neighbors yard (Phil and Brooke). We went over to their cul-de-sac for fireworks that night. Waylon didn't like them (the fireworks) so we headed home. Both boys did stay up till 9, but were pretty beat.

Monday:

Planting seeds in the garden and messing around in the yard in the am.
Downtown to Forsyth park and Chili's in the pm.
Accepted Watermelon from really nice strangers...Dinnertime at Chili's (Way is saying cheese)...
It is impossible to get a pic of B smiling now...
Video of boys playing in the water at Forsyth...

Friday

I can't believe it's Friday already. This week flew by. I wish I could say I was busy getting everything unpacked, but I haven't unpacked much more. We were busy doing a million other things.

I got my Georgia drivers license. It actually wasn't too bad. I didn't have to take a test so that was good. The boys were amazingly good while we were there.

Signed up at the Y. It's great. There's one about 5 minutes away that has free child care while you work out, a couple pools and spray park, a playground and a bike trail. We went to check out another one in town today that has a toddler pool. Byron and Waylon loved it.

I just have a couple pics from the week. I keep forgetting my camera.

Waylon watering his shoes...
Some yard work...
Waylon's boo boo from tripping over a tree root at the park...Bath time in the monster tub....
