Sign on the dotted line

Come sign away, come sign away, come sign away with meee.......

We signed our life away this morning.

Aaron signing away

We received our loan closing documents last night, so spent the morning at U of C signing and notarizing and promising to spend a lot of Aaron's paycheck on our mortgage for the next 30 years. We fed-ex'ed everything back to Savannah and hopefully they will all make it before the closing at 1 pm tomorrow. I have to say, it's weird doing all this through the mail. Seems less official somehow. However, I am extremely happy. I've always been good at ignoring the money/debt part and focusing on the enjoyment aspect. I cannot wait to move into that house. Of course, the music wafting up through our walls last night when I went to sleep (it was before 9 pm so I really couldn't complain) made me even more happy that we won't have to worry about that anymore.

Our own house, heaven.

T minus 29 days and counting

That is how long we have left in Chicago. Crazy. Doesn't seem all that long now. We close on the house next Friday, so everything is progressing. Here's some moving related updates.

We sold our Camry this weekend. It was an amazingly easy process. We sold it over Craigs list and sold it to the 2nd guy who came to see it. I was a little sad to see it go. It was a great car for us. However, having it gone simplifies things for the move. We really didn't want a car without air conditioning in Savannah.

We also met with a guy this week to go over some life, disability and health insurance options. Since Aaron's group has a contract with the hospital, rather than working for the hospital, it's just like they're a small business. That means we have to find all that stuff ourselves. We both had a major headache after that meeting. I think we know what we want now though. It was so overwhelming to think about all at once.

So, now we're home bound (without a second car) but that's probably good. All (ALL???) we need to do now is pack. I spent the boys nap this afternoon tackling the basement. Scary!! I didn't realize how many boxes of stuff from my childhood I have to move. Oops. I'll sort it all out in Savannah. I'm probably 1/2 done with getting everything ready down there. We are going to have some massive trips to the Salvation Army in our future. Anyone need an old scanner? How about an old well used umbrella stroller with wheels that stick?

How did we get so much stuff??

Last trip to the boro (from Chicago)

We just completed our last weekend trip to Murphysboro from Chicago this last weekend. Next time, it won't be quite so easy to pop down there for the weekend. Currently, it is a 5 1/2 hr drive (or so). Next time we drive down there, it will just be to spend the night before heading on to Savannah.
We had a great time. The boys love playing outside there. Poppa Pete has made a great place for boys to play. They love all the paths and the planters. Byron also loved removing all the mulch from the planters and spreading it around the yard.

They also had a great time at the park
The bugs under the slides were especially exciting.A ride in the tractor train by dad.

Good time had by all.

Just another day

Today we went out to the burbs to hang with Maggie and family. It was great. Byron got to play with Anna, his "Best Friend!" and I got some girl time with Maggie. We talked a lot about houses, painting and decorating between "no, don't touch that" and " take that out of your mouth" and be "nice to your brother".

We were out of eggs, so I stopped by Walgreens on the way home. It went something like this:

- Byron fell asleep on the way back from Maggies so wake him up and get him in the store
- Carry Waylon in the store
- Put Waylon in the shopping cart
- Put Byron in the shopping cart
- Hmm, need lotion, should I get the Burt's Bee's milk and honey or Quench? Oh, out of Burts Bees, get Quench
- Get Snacks for trip down to in-laws tomorrow
-Get more milk (we ALWAYS need more milk)
- Get eggs
- Get frozen pizza for dinner tonight
-Check out
- Get boys out of cart
- Carry groceries and Waylon to car
- Put groceries by door to B's side so can get door open (foreshadowing here)
- Get W in carseat
- Snap B's seatbelt
- Get in car and drive home (missing something??)
- Realize left groceries in parking lot on asphalt next to passenger door
- Haul a$$ back to Walgreens
- Run into store, good samaritan carried groceries back inside. Groceries were waiting in the cooler
- Eggs didn't make it

Little buddy

"Come on little buddy" (or little baby/little Waylon) is a common refrain around here lately. The boys are playing great together. I know this will not go on forever, and at some point Byron will be too cool for his little brother. But, I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

This is a game that they were playing while I was getting dinner together today. Byron pulled Waylon all over the apt. Don't ask about the no pants. I have the hardest time keeping clothes on those boys.

Back to work

I have been so completely and unbelievably lazy. So, it was back to work today. I seem to have a hard time getting out of vacation mode since we've been back. I did absolutely nothing this weekend except, eat, play with the boys, and read, mostly in the backyard.

It was really nice. Such a good mother's day. Aaron and the boys really treated me.

So, today we headed out and got some new kicks for Way today. He's really had a growth spurt recently.

Next, we headed to Unity park. It was decent out this morning and the boys had a great time checking out a park that was not Haas.

This afternoon is was floor cleaning time and dinner. I didn't quite plan ahead well enough, and didn't have the rice made for the casserole I was planning. Oops. The boys were also going crazy by this point, so salads it was. (that grammer seems screwy, sorry!)

Now, I'm back to vacation mode again (for the night). I'm trying to decide between popping in a movie and watching the most recent episode of Biggest Loser. :)

Hola

Cancun was absolutely great. The trip was great, the boys were great, the hotel was by far the nicest we've ever stayed at. It was all great. The only tiny little thing that wasn't so great was the price of food. It was outrageous.

We spent the entire time at the pool or on the beach. It was pretty windy the first 2 days, so we really didn't hit the beach much until Monday.

Here's a list of our favorite things..

1. The view from our balcony at Sunrise

2. The pool

3. Meals at the pool

4. The beach

5. The boys playing in the sand and the shower on the beach

6. Waylon's super curly hair

5. Byron jumping in the pool and swimming on his own! (Video, click here to watch)

I want to go back. :)
