One week

Hard to believe we've been here one week already. The house is looking decent. Most of the boxes are unpacked, except for the "nursery". We just close the door to that room and pretend it doesn't exist.

I've been horrible about taking any pics so far. Here are a few I've managed to get this past week.

First breakfast..New car in new driveway...Ode to a washing machine (and dryer)..

Beach time...Someone LOVES playing in the waves..
Playing in the sprinkler in the backyard. The poor yard is half dead.

Bedtime

Tonight at bedtime, reading to Byron and Waylon in Byron's bed. We were reading one of Byron's favorite books, Ocean, part of the DK series.

Byron:"Mom, I really want to read the scuba divers page!!"

" Scuba Divers!"

" Scuba Divers!"

Me: " Ok, I'll try to find it."

Byron: " Please don't disappoint me mom."

We made it!

We are here, in Savannah! Everything working out as well as possible regarding the move. We barely fit all our crap (yep, it's ALL crap) in the truck, but thanks to some imaginative packing, we did!!

The drive down was..... not fun. Waylon did great, Byron was sick and had a hard time. But, we all made it and are pretty much recovered. I still feel like I could sleep a good 24 hrs.

The house and everything is great. We're just about set up, besides the annoying little boxes that won't go away. We got the washer and dryer today. Yay!!!! So excited.

We got a new car yesterday too. We got a 08 Buick Enclave to allow all of us to take one car to the beach, which we're planning to do as soon as the boys wake up from their naps.

It's hot here, they weren't lying. It's not bad by the evening though. We'll see how it is at the beach today.

I'll post some pics soon.

Final countdown

This is it! Only 2 more days in Chicago, well, 2 full days and a 1/2 day left.

Most of the apartment is packed up now. I still have the kitchen to do tomorrow, plus some last minute things, like the computer. The boys have been great. They're been really good at playing together while I pack. They even help periodically.

It's been a good week. We've spent lots of time with friends, saying final goodbyes. I even got to go out for dinner and dessert with Maggie this week. It's also been sad. I don't like good byes. Who does?

I am very excited for the next week. I kind of wish Sunday and Monday, the traveling and actual moving days would just pass us by without me really being conscious. I did run to Target last night and got all kinds of goodies for the boys on Monday. That was really fun. It will be a 11 hr trip from Pete and Caroline's place in Murphysboro to our place Savannah. Thank goodness Caroline will be making the trip with me. We're just planning lots of breaks. I think Byron will be fine, he's a seasoned traveler, but Waylon still has a hard time sitting still for longer periods.

My next post will probably be from sunny and HOT Savannah! We won't have computer access for a couple days, but I'll try to post when I can.

Bye Chicago!! You've been great to us!

Whirlwind

This weekend was crazy. Fun, but crazy.

Friday: Aaron's resident graduation dinner at Zapatista's in the south loop. Had a great time. Almost every resident from the program was there. Unfortunately, someone who doesn't have kids made the reservation for 7 pm. We were able to stay until 8:45 before the boys crashed. They were really good.

Saturday: Joe and Lauren's wedding.
Took the boys to the wedding. Waylon and I watched Lauren walk down the aisle and spent the rest of the time checking out the church.

Byron made it through 90% of the wedding with Aaron.

Pete and Alicia watched the boys in the pm and Aaron and I went to the reception. Great food..

Veggie fare..
Forgot to take a pic of the cake before! Was chocolate on the bottom and lemon on the top... yum yumCanolli table.

Sunday: Visited Aaron's aunt Suzy and uncle Dean in the morning. The boys had a great time playing with their second cousins and we had a great visit.

Had a barbeque that night with Aaron's friends from U of I and the usual suspects. Was crazy. Our living room looked and sounded like an enactment of Lord of the Flies. There were 8 kids there under 4.
Now, on to packing.

Whew!

I was going to post tonight about our day at the park this morning and the move, but I'm just too tired. We went to the Dunckers (friends from med school) this evening and I am worn out and in a major food coma. Our friends Mike, Katy and their baby boy Gavin were in town from Boston.

The boys had a great time. The Dunckers have a big pool, and the boys had a great time playing around in it. Waylon was being a real charmer/stinker depending on your view point. Good thing that kid is so good looking. :)

Aah mom...

That's what I've been hearing from Byron lately. I have a feeling that will continue until he's 40 or so, maybe longer. Aah mom, do I have to?

He's also being saying ah nuts a lot. Ex:

"Mom, can I have celery for dinner?"

"We don't have any celery."

"Ah nuts!"

Weekend fun

One birthday party (Faye is 4!), one barbecue, one night grilling out. Pretty ideal.
