Grandpeople

My grandpeople are visiting. That includes grandma, grandpa and Great aunt Verna. We're having a great time, and they've been a great help. I tell you though, it's hard keeping up with them. I've sent them downtown to take a trolley tour this morning. I needed to rest up. :)

Get your motor runnin

Successfully took Way and Edie to the mall on Monday (Success, in that no one was lost, Edie cried through the entire trying on fiasco). He loves playing on these rides, but does NOT like when they move. He's a cheap date. Picked up some new dresses and shoes for some dinners we have coming up in the next couple weeks.
Including last night, we went out to dinner with Aaron's work. It was great. Had a great steak at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and conversed with grown-ups for 2 whole hours!! We used a new babysitter who (m??) I am super excited about. She loves babies.

The grandparents (granny and Poppa Jim) are heading into town on Friday along with Aunt Verna. I'm so excited to show them around.

Byron is fully recovered although he keeps bringing up the "flus" in an effort to watch "How to Train Your Dragon" for the 10th time this week.

Oh ya, and guess who turned 8 weeks this Tuesday??

DEFCON 2

That is our current setting. Byron's been sick this weekend. It started on Wednesday night when the poor kid puked while we were out to dinner at Basils. A couple that are moving here this summer were visiting this past week and we're thinking that they'll be kindred spirits. The guy is a gynecological oncologist and he and his wife have a 2 year old daughter that could be Waylon's twin. They hit it off great.

We were at DEFCON 4 (puking and lack of sleep) on Wednesday night and throughout Thursday. Friday, we were able to progress to DEFCON 3 (little puking and much more sleep) and today we are happy to say we're at DEFCON 2 (no puking, but still tired and cranky boy laying on couch and watching movies). At least we didn't obtain DEFCON 5 (sick kid and sick parent). That is the worst!!

It's been gorgeous here, so I've at least been able to throw Waylon outside to burn off some energy while B lies on the couch. Yay, bare legs!!
Cute pic of Edie just cus...

St. Pats Eve

Today, we started celebrating St. Patricks day early. They had a parade at Byron's preschool with (get this) floats for the 3 yr olds,
an irish band (with bagpipes),
irish dancers
and fire trucks! (Alas, no Paula Dean but I did see her son what's his name and his preggo wife) The preschool is right next to the elementary school so the entire elementary school sat out to wave to the preschoolers. One of the cutest things I've ever seen in my life. They even had t-shirts made for the kids with hats, shamrock leis and shakers. Serious parade preparation here.
Byron on the parade route, waving to his adoring fans (us)...
Post parade party...
Edie slept through the whole thing...Savannah is really serious about St. Pats. The kids now have the next 2 days off. Yep, that's right. So the teachers can go celebrate tomorrow and then recover from their massive hang overs on Friday. It's crazy. Most businesses are closed tomorrow and Friday. Aaron took tomorrow off to take the boys to the huge parade downtown (brave soul).

People are talking about their plans tomorrow like it's Christmas, with a lot more whiskey involved. Don't worry mom, Aaron and I are going to wait to introduce Byron to whiskey until next year. We feel he's still a little too young and needs a little more weight to hold his liquor. Maybe just a Guinness or two this year. :)

Firsts

I think Edie is going to be earlier on many of the "firsts" compared to the Boys. She had two firsts this weekend, her first sniffles and first time sleeping in her crib.

Friday, she slept alllll day. She had a slight temp of 100 and a little congestion. I think she got a little cold from Byron. Her temperature went down with Tylenol (another first!) and hasn't returned yet. She's feeling much better now (another first, first time in jeans)...
Tonight, I'm trying Edie in her crib. She hasn't slept there much yet. She did take a pretty good nap in there this morning, so we'll see. I was really sentimental about moving her out of our room, but some nights it's like grand central station in our room. In between the boys and the dogs, I think she might sleep better without the "busyness".
The boys were absolutely crazy this weekend. They were WILD!! I wish I could harness their energy. There would be no need for any oil or nuclear power plants. Waylon had at least 10 time outs in the last 2 days. Being 2 can be rough, not only for him but for us too. He can be so sweet (meaning to do post on cute things he's saying now in my spare time, ha ha), but such a stinker at times. I actually told Byron it was OK to pinch him back. We'll see how that one goes. I'll probably have a MMA round on my hands.

I did buy some first readers (see dick run) for Byron today. I'm really excited. We just started practicing our sight words and I think he's ready to start some initial reading stuff. He's definitely got his letters down and knows most of the sounds.

Lastly, just wanted to share my favorite view of the weekend (Boys playing playdoh ((Waylon not wearing pants because peed in potty!!)) and Aaron grilling out in the background, grilled artichokes mmmm)....

The Pox

Poor Edie is having her first experience with acne, surely not her last. It started on her forehead, moved around to the right side of her face yesterday and attacked her left side today. Poor thing. At least it's temporary. She has a good 12-14 (Aaron and I were both late bloomers) years before she has to worry about it again. She also has some male pattern hair loss. It has resulted in a pretty cool mohawk.
Alas, she has more fuzz coming in already (although Aaron claims not to see it yet). I swear I'm not imagining it!

Despite the challenges of being an infant, she's still pretty happy and easy. I think she's still pretty cute too...
We are on our own again. Pete and Caroline left early Saturday morning. We took it really easy this weekend. Aaron recuperated (broke his hand Wednesday evening chasing our crazy dog, Laya) and I actually cooked for the first time post-Edie. I made my favorite veggie stew. It makes a ton and is a good bang for your buck.

The boys were excited to get Megamind (best pixar movie yet) and new water bottles. Love it when they get so excited about something so simple. Waylon getting a refill...We don't have much planned until the end of the month (grandparents coming out to visit). I'm just wrangling the kids and Aaron's studying for his boards (in-between wrangling the kids and working). We're trying to find our new normal (Post-Edie).

Loving

1. Byron saying, "I'm Waylon" and Waylon saying, "me Baba" (trying to trick us)

2. The fact that 5 week old Edie slept through the night last night (I'm going to be viciously attacked by another mom any day now)
3. Byron spent quite a while on the potty the other night and told Aaron "Dad, I think you fed me too much food."
4. Watching baby girl nap on her tummy
5. Waylons fashion sense...
The boys did NOT love story time at the library today. Byron ran screaming from the room. They had a grown man dressed up as the cat in the hat. He was pretty scary looking.
