Tic tac?

Waylon shoved a tic tac up his nose today on the way to meet a friend at the park (it was minty, and must have burned).  I could still see it but he kept putting his finger on it and I was terrified he was pushing it farther up there (imagining an impromptu stop by Dr. Naves).  So,  we executed an emergency pull over (right by Starbucks) and blew out the offending object (Thank god!).  Byron did the same thing with a pea about a year ago.

Christmas preparations

We are getting ready for Christmas!  The boys are done with WIPP until 2012.  Last Friday they had their Christmas program.  What follows are the best video clips we could get.  Byron was dressed as a shepherd and actually sang this year.  Waylon isn't singing in his clip, I think he did say jingle bells once.  He was most active immediately after getting his "instrument".  :)  He just stood there the rest of the time.  He looked like he was getting more and more worried as the song went on.  At the end, he looked pretty close to tears.

Our proud musicians and best bud Haku...
Lastly, Edie is now walking!  She's taken several steps.  She'll take 4-5 at a time now.  Today I got a video of  one step.   She walked from the boys bed to their table, disguised as a tent (the table, not Edie).

Literary lady

Several times in the last couple days I've found Edie in her room looking at  her books.  She likes this one especially, it is a peek a boo book with a mirror at the end.

The end of an era?

Waylon is finally doing really well with potty training.  We started wearing undies and pull ups last April, so it has been a long, dirty road.  Many times this last summer I remember having to (it was necessary to keep me sane.) go run at the Y and screaming "I hate poop" in my head as I was pounding out my frustrations on the treadmill.  Most days, we are able to spend the day in undies now.  We still have some situations where the undies don't make it through the day, but he's getting much much better.  He has actually started telling us when he needs to go which is a huge accomplishment in my book.  A lot of times, he gets "that look" on his face or says he has to go and then says, "Oh, I just tooted".  So hard not to laugh.

Savannah bridge run

The run was yesterday.  Very hilly but really fun.  Placed 19th with a time of 29:52.  Woohoo!

Click on the video, it's under Lung Cancer Awareness Month

He did a fantastic job.  I'd be sweating bullets and stuttering all over the place.  :)

Rainy Nashville

The less said about sleepless last night the better.   However,  had bizarrely good Mexican for dinner last night.  If anyone ever stops in Manchester TN you have to try El portillos.

Updates

In reverse order of age...
Edie is clapping! Too adorable. I will get a video and post it. She can stand on her own now and likes to walk around holding onto your hands (while you are bent over almost 1/2). I've had a pretty sore lower back the last couple days. She is also a belly sleeper and has been known to sleep with her butt in the air.

Waylon doesn't look like a toddler anymore. He really looks like a little boy now. He continues to be a very affectionate yet stubborn little boy.  The pic shows him in his Thanksgiving Indian outfit from school.  He made the necklace himself and was very very proud.
Byron is loving school. It helps that his best bud Haku is there. They are not in the same class, but are together on the playground everyday. He is a GREAT older brother to Edie.  He really loves playing with her in between playing Bacon vs. Tofu with his brother and massive Lego building sessions.

Aaron is doing great.  They just got a new machine at his work. It's very fancy and the latest and greatest of everything.

I'm really good.  Tomorrow we are leaving on a road trip to southern Illinois for Thanksgiving.  I've been packing like a mad woman.  It was also the day of the Waiting on a Cure luncheon. I was on the committee this year.  It was really fun and we got to raise some money to help the cancer institute at Memorial.  A GREAT friend, Barb, dressed up with me.  I was Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice and she was Medusa.  Next year, I'm going to pick a costume that doesn't need so much explanation.  :)

More milestones

Standing tall
Edie is hitting milestone after milestone lately.  At least it seems that way.  She's crawling like a mad woman and even crawled up our stairs yesterday.  She's also starting to stand.  She can stand a minute or two at a time.   It always amazes me how much children change in the first year.  I can't believe she was a newborn just 9 short months ago.

The boys are doing well.  Waylon is talking up a storm.  Lately he has been tacking on "you know" to everything he says.  For example, he said "I like quesidillas, you know mom" today.  He also calls Edie feetie (sweetie) pie all the time.  Too cute.

School pictures

And so it starts.  My school pictures were always horrendous, except for one my mom says was unusually good.  I don't seem to remember that one.  Click HERE to see a hilarious pic of our firstborn.  He looks like he has a secret.  I'm titling this year the Dennis the Menace photo or is channeling his inner Elvis.   The other proof was worse.  He was sucking in his upper lip.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a hard time getting a 5 year old boy to wear a good, natural smile.

Waylon's turned out really well.  You can see it HERE.  She cropped my hand out. :)

Bahama mama (and family)

We were in the Bahamas for the 2nd week of October.  It was amazing.  We met a couple (Mike and Katie) we know down there who have a one year old son, Gavin (he's 22 months, so almost 2).  The kids all had a great time as did the adults.  We stayed at the Atlantis on Paradise Island.  It's like staying at a water park (no pics of the pools here, too busy swimming/sliding), with a beach and an aquarium.  We were gone for 4 nights/5 days.  On the last day Byron was so exhausted he just wanted to stay inside and play angry birds.   It was time to go home.  A ridiculous number of pictures follow..
