Thanksgiving recap

Had a great time down in Murphysboro. Waylon did great on the way down. He even zoned out for a bit.
Byron did not want to leave. Byron started pouting as soon as he realized we were leaving on Sunday. It was only relieved when Byron realized that the tent Caroline bought for them got to come back to Chicago.

Byron did everything except sleep in the tent, although he tried. This is technically taken in the tunnel that came along with the tent.

Waylon liked the tent, but his heart belonged to the fridge. My boys are all ruled by their tummies. It was actually beautiful in the boro this last weekend. The boys both got their last bout of sunshine until next April.

Thanks for the great weekend Pete and Caroline!

Officially official

It's official! We're definitely, without a doubt moving to Savannah. Aaron signed the contract last night in good old analog fashion. He had signed it digitally about a week ago. We're locked in now.

Very excited. I have been telling random people about it since we decided we wanted to go there, 2 or 3 weeks ago. Aaron's been holding off until he had the signed (by both parties) contract in his hands. I think I told a random lady at the grocery store last week about it. :) He he. I can never keep exciting news to myself.

Off to frantically pack some more stuff. I am exhausted already! It's the first trip where Waylon gets to sit like a big boy (facing front). I'm hoping that he'll watch the DVD player a little too. Doesn't that sound horrible though, hoping your kid zones out in front of a movie. Ah well.

Danger boy

Byron was an easy baby. Maybe this is all in retrospect, but I really think he was easy. He started walking around 11 months but he was so cautious. He wasn't fast, and really took his time to make sure that he was going where he wanted to. He rarely fell and was slow (did I mention that already?).

Waylon is so different. He took off and is now trying to run! He tried to run after Byron in the kitchen the other day, spun around and fell flat on his back. He is so fast. I should have known I was in trouble. At our visit to CO in August, Waylon crawled up to the 3rd step on mom's stairs and stood up. He was only 11 months. Today, I found Waylon standing on top of the picnic table 3 (maybe 4) times and on top of the toilet (standing on the lid!!) once.

Imagine this, but up one step and with a big devilish smile on his face. I would take a picture, but Aaron and I discussed it and thought it'd be encouraging bad behavior too much. :) I, of course, think he's a physical prodigy.

We've been cleaning (ha ha) and packing all day. Tomorrow we're heading down to the boro (Murphysboro) for Thanksgiving. I'm sure I won't post down there. We'll be too busy relaxing. :) I'm really looking forward to it. I'll leave you all with a great pic of my coloring fiend.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

13 months!

Waylon is 13 months old today!

It's a little hard to believe. Last year at this time he was happy laying on the couch, snoozing on his tummy, and hadn't really smiled yet. Crazy.

We are celebrating today by all sharing a wonderful head cold. Poor guy couldn't sleep last night and was up quite a bit. We spent a fair amount of time rocking away on the rocker. It was not the right night for me to take some Nyquil to try and get some good sleep. I was a very foggy momma.

I guess I'm going to have to stop celebrating his month birthdays soon. He's just a big boy now. He's doing great with all of his milestones and was in the 90% for height and 25% for weight at his check up just a couple weeks ago. Although, he hasn't said mama yet. Lots of dadas and babas (Byron), but no mama. Ah, why is it always the last to come? :)

First post!

So, Maggie has inspired me, and I've started my own blog. I figure that now that we're moving half way across the country (literally) it will be good to find another medium to keep in touch with all our loved ones.

I intend to use it to keep everyone up to date with the crazy new things that the boys get into along with the tremendous beach days in our future. Until we move to a warmer climate, I'll use it to document our last winter in chi-town. Hopefully I can look back on it in a year and it will keep me grounded. ;)

So, update from today:

Had a great morning. Maggie, Anna, Abe, Pamela, Elizabeth and Harper all came over. It was more than a little crazy, but all had a great time. It was great to see Maggie and fam again. It's amazing how quickly babies change. Abe is so huge! Byron was super excited to see Anna also. He still regularly asks if Anna will be at the park.

It's really nice out here today, it's crazy! It's so nice to get outside after spending all week inside with the rain. Planning on heading to the bunny park with Pamela and friends after naps. Can't wait.
