Summer Illinois visit

We got back from our road trip to Illinois about a week ago.  It really went pretty well.  All the kids got a cold, but they rotated so just one was sick at a time.   Not bad.  It seems like it's pretty rare to escape the kids getting some sickness when we travel.  Just a product of having three.

The boys did great in the car. It's a 11 hour drive, so it's LOOONNNNNGGGGGGGGGG.  Edie did OK. Not good, but OK.  Better on the way out than on the way back.  She didn't like falling asleep in her carseat, so she cried.  A lot.

The castle park, super cool but we didn't stay too long since Way had a temp.

Climbing a dragon with Poppa Pete

Caroline had Edie duty a bunch.

We had a lot of fun in Murphysboro.  The weather was amazing so we spent a lot of time outdoors.

Jumping In

Byron is swimming like a mad man now.  He's actually starting to learn different strokes at his lessons instead of just how to stay afloat.  We went swimming at a local pool we joined today.  After Waylon jumped with Aaron he said, "I don't want to do that again."  Waylon is a fearless jumper, but from the side.

Savannah Children's Museum

Had a great time this morning at the new Savannah Children's Museum.  It just opened last weekend and is all outside right now.  I wasn't expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised.  The kids all had a blast.
The largest part of the museum, a maze in the foreground and other areas in the back.

They had every kind of block imaginable.

Waylon loved the dress up area, although it was pretty hot.

Huge marble run thingy.
We're heading to Southern Illinois tomorrow morning.  By heading, I mean driving. I'm a little nervous.  Edie is at a hard age for travel, especially that lasting more than a couple hours.  We're fully packed with tons of sugar and mind-numbing cartoons.  Hopefully those will keep her happy.  The boys are old pros, and excited.  ;)

Not so easy

9:00 Katherine arrives, run around house looking for Edie's blankie since she's bawling
9:05  Realize Katherine is holding crying Edie AND the blankie and leave.
9:30 Arrive at Georgia Eye Institute for eye appt
9:35 Find out appt is 6/12/12
9:36 Leave Georgia Eye Institute and head to YMCA
9:40 Stop by Target because left earphones at home.  I now have a pair in my "gym" bag dedicated to Y workouts.
10:00  Arrive at Y
10:01 Realize forgot t-shirt
10:15 Buy shirt at Walmart (running was a personal mission at this point)
10:16 Realize phone charger for the car I just bought does not work with Droid
10:17 Return phone charger
10:20 Purchase new phone charger that does work with Droid
10:30 Back at Y
10:40 Run 4 GREAT miles
11:30 Leave Y
11:45 Back home

Basically, it took me 3 hours to do a 4 mile run.  Some days, I should not leave the house.
